I'm walking better and working better but still too much for being retired but I do love what I do most of the time. Teresa leaves on Saturday on her journey to Ormond Beach then Sanford then Lexington. She doesn't like traveling alone and I don't like being home alone. I do go visit Mammy and Angie this weekend though.
I was working here at the computer and decided to take a break. As I got up I starting thinking of our physical involvement since we moved to Fernandina Beach. Teresa is in a weekly Ladies Bible study, Sunday School, Sunday Worship, Wednesday Bible Study, studying 40 Days of Prayer and assisting monthly in the kitchen for Family Night supper. She also cleans house for Melodie once a week and goes to the beach often. I am singing in three different groups at church and one in the community, working at Faith Christian Academy and Boys and Girls Club, participating in Community Bible Study, Wednesday morning Prayer Breakfast, Sunday School, Sunday Worship, Wednesday Bible Study and studying 40 Days of Prayer. I also meet with some men on Tuesday for breakfast and walk try to walk to the beach every morning for the sunrise and conversation with Ernest and whoever else I might see. We are busy and loving it. Sometimes busier than we intended but its hard to say no to the things you so enjoy doing.
It has been several days without a normal sunrise. I am struggling with a foot issue that may be Morton's Neuroma so my doctor is conservatively treating it as such. It has caused pain and my walking is limited and the standing for BGC has not helped. BGC is allowing me to sit now but I want to help these students and it works so much easier if I go to them and keep them on track.
Our grand-daughter Evelyn is now four and had a school project to send Flat Stanley on a vacation. Here is his story...
Hi, my name is Flat Stanley. I am a special friend of Evelyn. She colored me and stuck me in a dark envelope and sent me away to visit her grandparents. It was a long ride from here to Fernandina Beach, Florida. I think I was high up in the air sometimes and then sometimes I was in a bumpy truck until I arrived at the Stokes’ house. Teesie welcomed me and let me lie on her shoulder after the long trip.
While at Fernandina Beach I got to do lots of fun things. I got to visit the lighthouse that someone made and brought to Teesie. It was cool and had its own light at the top. Teesie and Pop collect seashells almost every day and I got to play with them. On Sunday, Evelyn’s cousin Bailey came for a visit and we went to lunch together.
Teesie and Pop check out new sites all the time on the island and they even found a street sign with my name on it. One of Pop’s favorite things to do is eat ice cream. I went along for the ride and saw lots of ice cream. It made me cold.
The beach is a favorite place for Teesie and Evelyn too when she visits her grandparents. Just like Evelyn, I like to get buried in the sand. We took a ride to the other side of Amelia Island where the boats were coming in for the day at sunset. Pop’s favorite time of the day is sunrise. I got to go there too.
Teesie took some pictures of me having fun and then I got a ride back to Lexington to come and visit all of you. I hope you have a very good school year and learn a lot of things.
PS, Teesie is coming to visit Evelyn in October.
We visited youth Sunday School again. We meet with Adam on Wednesday to see what he is looking for with the group. Worship was exceptional for me today with music and message that deeply reached me with turning pain into joy. Thank you Neil and Pam. We had lunch with the Kingsland clan at Mrs. Carolyn's and they hung out until about 4.
I'm a wanna be writer but only dabble with personal stories and illustrations. My true joy is my relationship with God and family. Then comes the music and technology. I'm writing a children's book called Goose Freedom.
