Three pickup trucks, the largest U-Haul trailer, eight car loads, a 16' cargo trailer and a 20' U-Haul truck got almost everything we needed (and more) to our new home in Fernandina Beach. (We still have one more car load to retrieve and a visit to Damons too.) It took seven weeks to pack and move and the unpacking may take that long too. But, we are happy to be where God wants us to be and excited about what He wants us to do.
Today is a bittersweet day. I have one hour of work left to complete my time with the Wayne County Board of Education as a Technology Specialist assigned to Wayne County High School. Only a handful of personnel remain for summer school and cleaning. It has been a great, great journey. I am going to miss the excitement of what is yet in store for my school but I leave it in capable hands with my friend Jim NeSmith. (He got my job and my dog.) I am thankful to my Lord Jesus for the opportunities and the abilities for the job these last 16 years. I am thankful to Sarah Edmondson and Kendall Keith who gave me the chance for a career change that became more ministry than I had ever experienced.
"So promise me today that you will fill the world with your story. Don't wait another day. If you're hiding your light, stop doing that. Like the prophet of old wrote, write down the vision that he may run who reads it. Tell your story. Tell it, tell it, tell it." Kevin Kaiser on behalf of Ted Dekker
The more time you spend with someone the more you think and act like that someone. Teresa and I have had two instances in the last two weeks where after a period of silence one would say something like, "Now that we have you a bicycle, where are we going to store it until we move?" That was my question and she commented that is exactly what I was just thinking. Hmm, too much time together. I don't think so. I was reminded that we need that kind of time spent with God so that we know what He is up to and where we should be headed. (BTW, Teresa got a new bicycle yesterday and it is stored in the house.)
It has been a whirlwind experience. Beginning on April 8 when the decision was made to retire and move to Fernandina, completing our work contracts, find a new place to live, selling our house, and some worry but loads of excitement. In seven short weeks all the above is happening and we are moving on the weekends to our new home. We are so blessed and so thankful with how God has set us up for this new adventure in our lives.
I'm a wanna be writer but only dabble with personal stories and illustrations. My true joy is my relationship with God and family. Then comes the music and technology. I'm writing a children's book called Goose Freedom.
